About Miyazaki-en Tea
From the Meiji to the Showa era,
Miyazaki Tea was celebrated as one of Japan’s three great teas—alongside Uji and Kawane.
However, in the Miyazaki region, where farmers cultivated tea in summer and worked in forestry during winter,
the import of low-cost timber from overseas led to a sharp decline in demand for domestic wood.
As forestry waned, the number of tea growers also gradually decreased.
Even through such changing times, Miyazaki-en continues to preserve its heritage as a tea producer in the region.
Now, over 200 years since its founding, we still craft our teas using time-honored traditional methods.
Miyazaki Tea—a hidden treasure not yet widely known to the world.
Born from a tradition steeped in history and culture,
we invite you to savor our finest matcha and fragrant Japanese teas.
