About Miyazaki-en Tea

From the Meiji to the Showa era,
Miyazaki Tea was highly esteemed as one of Japan’s three great teas—alongside Uji and Kawane.

However, as Japan began importing inexpensive timber, the demand for domestic wood declined.
In Miyazaki District, where farmers engaged in tea cultivation during summer and forestry in winter,
this shift led to the gradual decline of the forestry industry and, consequently, the number of tea farmers.

Amid these changing times, Miyazaki-en continues to carry on as one of the remaining tea producers in the region.
Now celebrating its 200th anniversary, the estate still produces tea using time-honored traditional methods.

Miyazaki Tea—a hidden gem still little known to the world.
Born from a legacy rich in history and culture,
we invite you to experience our finest matcha and fragrant Japanese teas.
